Title: Blade and Soul
PG-13 (scantily clad women and blood/gore)
4 of 5 stars
Alka has been accused of killing her master and is on the run from the agents of the Palan empire. In this standard fantasy setting, Alka is the stereotypical heroine who also happens to be a trained assassin from the Clan of the Sword. She is an absolutely stunning beauty with long silver hair, deep blue eyes, and a chest that would make a priest look twice. The first episode finds hired as a soldier to work for a village far in the fertile countryside. The surrounding villages has been acquired (either bought of simply taken) by the Palan empire in attempts to cultivate plants that create 'Heavenly Spirits,' As the first episode ends, the Palan empire attacks the village and slaughters most of the villagers save the daughter of the village chief, who has been serving as the temporary leader. The Palan warrior leading the attack, opens and consumes a small blue vial of the Heavenly Spirits. His muscles enlarge and his veins glow blue as the Heavenly Spirits take effect and augment his abilities. After a short and quick battle, Alka easily dispatches the leader and the episode ends with the chief's daughter and Alka talking about taking revenge on the Palan empire.
Writers note: This is apparently an adaption of a Korean MMORPG. Oddly enough along with the typical swords and armor/magic that is often found in fantasy settings, there are firearms (flint-locks, semi-automatic hand guns, and fully automatic assault rifles with scopes). I'm still under the impression that to call a Korean crazy, is simply redundant. And for those we are going to whine about me being racist, let me stop you and say that first, this was not a joke and second, I am Korean.
This is my personal page for reviews for Animes that I have watched. Let me tell you that I am not Japanese and I do not speak/read Japanese. I was born and raised in the States but do enjoy watching Anime. I hope you enjoy watching them as well. Please feel free to drop a note that you came by and let me know if there's anything you want reviewed.
